The second restaurant from James Beard Award winning Chef Gavin Kaysen, Bellecour will open in surprisingly trendy Wayzata on Wednesday, March 15. Reservations to the French eatery can made starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 6, via phone or OpenTable.
Bellecour, inspired by Chef Kaysen’s time in Lyon, France, will focus on classic French cuisine in the former home of long-time seafood restaurant Blue Point. Kaysen also owns the still-hot Spoon and Stable in downtown Minneapolis.
“For this restaurant, I drew inspiration from some of the fantastic meals I’ve enjoyed in Lyon, as well as the sense of hospitality that the restaurants there have,” Kaysen said in a recent press release. “The food here will be simple but we want every element to be perfect. When there are only a few components on the plate, they each need to sing in perfect harmony.”
Kaysen is borrowing some serious talent from Spoon and Stable. Robb Jones, Charlie Award recipient for Outstanding Bartender 2015, will be at the helm behind the bar while curating the French-focused wine list will be handled by Nico Giraud. Desserts and pastries will be placed into the amazingly talented hands of Spoon and Stable’s Pastry Chef Diane Yang, a James Beard Outstanding Pastry Chef Semifinalist.
The team expects to begin lunch service in the next few months. In the meantime, the bakery will be open daily from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. and dinner will be served 5-10 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 5-9 p.m. on Sunday. The bar will be open from 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
