Foxy Falafel to Launch Brunch This Weekend

Photo: Steven Clift

The farmers markets are closed for the season and the Foxy Falafel truck is off the streets for the winter, but you'll still be able to get a falafel brunch starting tomorrow at Foxy's brick-and-mortar restaurant in St. Paul. The brunch menu will include farmers market favorite the Sabich Sandwich (fried eggplant, hard boiled egg, and pickled mango sauce), as well as Middle Eastern classic Shakshuka and a Lamb Burger Breakfast Sandwich. Also on the menu are Barikas, which sound like baklava straight out of a fever dream: puff pastry filled with goat cheese, caramelized onion, dried apricots, and pistachios. Owner and chef Emily Strait also promises a Beet Mimosa and a Bloody Beer, presumably some kind of brunch libation involving beer and tomato juice, not leftover detritus from the Zombie Pub Crawl.
