SOUTHWEST — A new burger/beer/wine spot called Red Cow is slated to open in the former Blockbuster building at 50th and France, reports Southwest Journal. The restaurant—owned by Luke Shrimp, a former co-owner of Blue Plate Restaurant Company (which includes The Lowry and Groveland Tap)—will open in late February or early March. [Southwest Journal]
NICOLLET ISLAND — After a stint as the sous chef at Lucia's in Uptown, Ryan Stechschulte is returning to his former home at Nicollet Island Inn, according to City Pages. Stechschulte started at Nicollet Island Inn in 2004 as a grill cook and worked his way up the line to sous chef before leaving to help open Victory 44. He will return to the Inn as executive chef. NORTH LOOP — Upscale gastropub The Public House has officially shuttered, according to Southwest Journal. The restaurant opened in August 2011 and closed temporarily in October, saying the closing was for remodeling and would re-open in November with a new name and new management. A recent farewell message on the restaurant's Facebook page, however, indicates that it's permanently shuttered. [Southwest Journal]
DINKYTOWN — Publika Tea and Coffee Union has opened in Dinkytown, reports TC Daily Planet. The industrial-looking space will serve both bubble tea and Dogwood coffee. [TC Daily Planet]
