Duluth institution Fitger's Brewhouse has canceled plans to open a Minneapolis brewpub, reports Downtown Journal. Rod Raymond and Tim Nelson, Fitger's co-owners, had signed a purchase agreement in June to buy a building in the North Loop that housed the former Trocadero's Restaurant. Ultimately, though, Raymond and Nelson never closed on the deal, deciding to stay focused on the brewery's expansion and their other ventures in Duluth, like Tycoon's Alehouse and Eatery, which they opened on New Year's Eve of 2011. But with construction on a much larger brewery space already underway in Duluth, it may not be too much longer until Fitger's El Niño IPA makes it to a tap line near you.
