For those of you Twinkie diehards who fear that the cream-filled treat is lost forever, there's hope. No, Hostess has not announced plans to revive its iconic sponge-cake. But a couple bakeries in the Twin Cities have taken up the cause. A Baker's Wife in Longfellow is now making Twinkies from scratch, as is Sunrise Bakery in Hibbing (they're called "banana flips" and are also sold at Jerry's Foods in Edina). Hopefully a deep-fried version of these from-scratch Twinkies isn't too far behind. [Star Tribune]
