Rincon 38 to Open Soon; Donut Cooperative Shutters

SEWARD — After a year in business (and two years since launching the Kickstarter that helped put them in business), the Donut Cooperative will shutter this Sunday, reports City Pages. The shop was known for its inventive, daily menu of donuts, including flavors like orange fennel, coconut curry lime, and the Golden Girl (chocolate and cheesecake). The Donut Cooperative invites fans to come by the store on Sunday for casual drinks and treats. [City Pages]

KINGFIELD — The long-promised tapas restaurant Rincon 38 is finally looking at an opening date, possibly as early as late January, according to Heavy Table. The restaurant is helmed by Hector Ruiz, who is known for Café Ena and El Meson (which shuttered in October of this year). Located at the corner of 38th Street and Grand Avenue (the intersection also home to Victor's 1959 Café and the Grand Café), Rincon 38 will focus on affordable small plates with a Spanish theme. LONGFELLOWZeke's Unchained Restaurant is scheduled to open on New Year's Eve at 3508 E. Lake Street, formerly the home of Italiani's Family Restaurant. The menu features some standard bar apps, burgers, and "gourmet" pizzas, including a particularly intriguing "Not-So-Minnesota-Nice Pizza." [EaterWire]
