Word has finally come through on the Smack Shack brick n' mortar, which, according to the truck/restaurant's Twitter, will open in January. Owner Josh Thoma first announced plans for the restaurant in March; it was originally scheduled to open in its North Loop space in June, and then late summer. Smack Shack recently posted a sneak peek of the construction, with promises for a January opening.
The 115-seat North loop space will be serving favorites from the truck—like the lobster roll and lobster mac—but will also expand its menu to include whole boiled lobsters, from a fresh lobster tank in the restaurant. If you're jonesing for lobster in the meantime, the truck is more or less off the streets for the season, but you can still get your lobster roll fill at the 1029 Bar.
