Sun Street Ending Dinner; Champions Bar Sues City

KINGFIELD Sun Street Breads announced that they will be ending dinner service, which chef Annette Colon has been running on Thursday through Saturday nights. In a message on their website, the bakery wrote that they have found themselves "stretched too thin" with dinner service, and will go back to focusing on the bakery and daytime operations (which include breakfast and lunch). DOWNTOWN — Downtown classic Normandy Kitchen will begin serving a prix fixe dinner menu on December 15, according to City Pages. The restaurant has a new executive chef, Adam Droski, who is most recently at the Nicollet Island Inn and has also served as head chef at Bar Abilene. The a la carte menu will retain its standbys like Cobb salad, veal meatloaf, and deviled eggs; the prix fixe will debut with options like duck confit cassoulet and Red Lake walleye. [City Pages]

WHITTIERChampions Sports Bar and Grill is suing the city of Minneapolis, reports the Star Tribune. The bar—located at Lake and Blaisdell—says that the city is unfairly threatening to revoke the bar's license. The suit, which includes claims of defamation and retaliation, comes after a much-publicized undercover drug sting, which was revealed this past March and included deals that occurred at the bar. NOKOMIS — It might have been considered a foregone conclusion, but it's now 100% official that Piccolo's Doug Flicker has been approved to run the new concession at Lake Nokomis. The park board approved the lease for Flicker's restaurant, Sandcastle, which will open on the main beach in Spring 2013. Proposed menu items include hush puppies, watermelon salad, and shrimp ceviche. [EaterWire]

ST. PAULFrench Meadow Bakery is adding a Grand Avenue location, reports Heavy Table on its Twitter. It will renovate the former Coat of Many Colors and Coffee News Café spaces, and is slated to open in May 2013. [@heavytable]
