Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the Twin Cities:
1) 3rd Annual Meritage Oysterfest
When: Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.
Where: Meritage
What: Although platinum passes are long sold out, there are still tickets available for the 3rd year of Meritage's annual Oysterfest. Sip on Summit beer and slurp bivalves from the country's most prominent oyster farms from both coasts. Live music, shucking contests, and--wait for it--Times Square's own The Naked Cowboy, will also be at the event. If oysters aren't your thing, you can get a general entry ticket and eat non-oyster fare from the brasserie. More information and tickets can be found here.
2) Indeed Brewing Company's 2nd Annual Hullabaloo
When: Saturday, noon to 11 p.m.
Where: Indeed Brewing Company
What: The gang at Indeed is throwing a party in their parking lot with 16 different beer offerings and the releases of their Haywire Double American Black Ale and Mosaic Fresh Hop. Sip beers and listen to live music from eight musical acts throughout the day. Blue Door Pub will be serving food all day including the "Hullabalucy", a special version of their Blucy burger. 3) Zombie Pub Crawl IX
When: Saturday 4 to 10 p.m.
Where: Various Locations in Minneapolis
What: Get gored up and join 30,000 other brain-seeking zombies at this year's installment of the Zombie Pub Crawl. The festivities include live music, a 6.66K run, and a whole lot of drinking at bars along the West Bank. There is seriously going to be a brain eating contest and you can get pork brain tacos from AZ Canteen food truck. Wristbands are required and you can find those and other information about the event here.
4) Excelsior Brewing 2nd Annual Oktoberfest
When: Friday, 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 11 p.m.
Where: Excelsior Brewing Co.
What: This weekend is the second annual Oktoberfest at Excelsior Brewing Company. The two-day Bavarian bash features over 12 different beers in the brewery's own outdoor Biergarden. There will be live music and the release of Excelsior's newest seasonal beer, the Nunnmorblak Black Ale. Find more information on the brewery's Facebook event page.
5) Sip N Streets
When: Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Spill the Wine
What: The Uptown restaurant is teaming with Golden Leaf Tobaco to bring an outdoor tented wine tasting event. There will be over 50 regional wines, cheese from Lake Wines, cigars from Golden Leaf, live music, beer from Badger Hill Brewing, local chocolate, a full bar, and food tent (with items including barbecue pork sliders, chicken street tacos, and curried vegetable skewers). Tickets are required for the event and can be purchased here.
Also of Note: The Happy Gnome, is hosting a 5-course Abita Beer dinner (Tuesday 6 p.m). Surly Brewing is taking over the taps at Muddy Waters and having a release party for their El Hefe Negro on Monday starting at noon. Tickets are available for a Harriet Brewing beer dinner at Grand Cafe (Thursday 6 and 9 p.m.). Moto-i will be donating 10% of their food sales to the American Cancer Society on Saturday. Are you bald? Eat free at Blue Plate Restaurants for Bald and Free Day on Monday. If you feel like getting out of town, Shell's Brewery is having their Oktoberfest celebration this Saturday.
