After a little less than a month of sold-out dinners, Travail's North Minneapolis pop-up Umami is becoming a permanent restaurant, reports Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl at Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. The Travail team mentioned that a permanent Umami might be one possibility for their incredibly large Kickstarter surplus, and now they've signed a one-year lease for the space.

For food, they're going dim sum (and the name may also be Umami Dim Sum, but that's not for sure yet). They know there will be Sunday service and steam tables, but other details are up in the air. Also news is that they're bringing in Geoff Hausmann, who has been part of the opening team at Victory 44 and Travail, and most recently took over the kitchen at the Sample Room. According to Moskowitz Grumdahl, Hausmann will be leading the new Umami concept, starting October 29.
