LONGFELLOW—Cupcake truck A Cupcake Social has plans to open a brick n' mortar cupcake shop at the corner of 38th Street and 28th Avenue, according to Heavy Table. They'll be offering cupcakes and housemade ice creams, and they hope to be open by late November. [Heavy Table]
NORTH LOOP—Upcoming Blue Plate brewpub The Freehouse (formerly known as Loose-Wiles Freehouse) is planning to open at 701 N. Washington Ave. on December 9, reports The Journal Mpls. The government shutdown put a slight hitch in the brewpub's plans, delaying their commercial brewing license. Co-owner Stephanie Shimp told The Journal that they were hoping to open with six of their beers on tap and grow to ten, but may now have to start with only two of their own beers. [The Journal Mpls]
