Surly Darkness Day, Spyhouse Coffee Grand Opening Halloween Bash, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the Twin Cities:

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Surly Brewing Company
What: Spend the afternoon at the Surly brewery drinking beer, eating food, and listening to live music for the release of Surly's 2013 Darkness Russian Imperial Stout. If you want a bottle of Darkness, get there early as it is limited (Caribou Coffee and Glam Doll Donuts will be on site starting at 6 a.m.). Food Trucks Stanley's On Wheels, Scratch Food Truck, Gogi Brothers Korean BBQ, Natedogs, and Asian Invasion will be there during the actual event. When: Saturday, 6 p.m.
Where: Spyhouse Coffee Northeast
What: Spyhouse Coffee Roasters is proud to announce the grand opening of their new cafe and roasting facility location in Northeast Minneapolis. The grand opening celebration promises a DJ, costume contest, a werewolf, latte throwdown, and more. Check out food and drink from Red Stag Supperclub and beer from 612 Brew. When: Friday, 6 p.m.
Where: 612 Brew
What: There's another party at a brewery. This time 612Brew has partnered with Tuned Beer to do a special release beer in bottles only and are celebrating with live music, food trucks, and more beer. When: Sunday, 5 to 9 p.m.
Where: Birchwood Cafe
What: Birchwood Cafe is celebrating 18 years in business with a family-friendly party. There will be complimentary food, sweet treats, local beer, and more. The cafe is also launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for a planned expansion. Special guest Mayor R.T. Rybak will be there to help launch the campaign. For further details, click here.

What: If you're looking to try Surly Darkness without trekking to Brooklyn Center, then hit up Stub and Herbs for Darkness Eve. There will be 2012 and 2013 Darkness available, as well as El Hefe Negro, SYX, SeVIIn, SurlyFest, and more. For information, click here.

Surly and Murray's join forces for their own five course beer dinner this evening (Thursday, 6:30 p.m.). Minnesota Monthly invites you to gather for their annual Best of the Cities Party tonight at Union Depot for food, drinks, and more (Thursday, 6 p.m.). Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery wraps up their anniversary week with beer and cider releases through Saturday. Looking for some early Halloween events? Summit's Taproom Friday will have an experimental beer on tap, Tiki Tim's food truck, and a Halloween costume contest (Friday, 3 to 8 p.m.). The 6th Annual Lowertown Boos Crawl and Costume Contest is going down this Saturday (7 p.m.). Icehouse is having their annual costume bash with live music from Hookers and Blow, food, and specialty cocktails (Saturday, 9 p.m.).
