Gastro Non Grata, Uptown Coffee Festival, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the Twin Cities:

gastronongrata.jpg1) Gastro Non Grata: Presurfeit Perdition
When: Sunday, 6 p.m.
Where: The Triple Rock Social Club
What: The music and food event is back at The Rock this Sunday. There will be live music, Surly beer, and fare from Burch Steak and Pizza. What else? Well, sponsor Clancey's Meat & Fish is providing door prizes. That means you might just win some meat. For tickets, music lineup, and other information, click here.

coffeefestival.jpg2) Uptown Coffee Festival
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Calhoun Square
What: Calhoun Square's 24th Annual Coffee Festival is going on this weekend and will feature samples from 35 coffee vendors, a barista competition, and even coffee-infused beers from Republic. For $10, coffee aficionados receive a festival mug and access to vendors which include samples of coffee and teas, breads and desserts, and more. Find out more information about the event here for details.

When: Monday, 5 to 8 p.m.
Where: The Buttered Tin
What: The food community will be gathering at The Buttered Tin on Monday to celebrate food and to raise money for Open Arms of Minnesota. When: Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Republic Uptown
What: Republic celebrates its one-year anniversary at its Calhoun Square location with a beer dinner. The prix fixe menu features five Odell beers over four-courses of food with parings such as Odell's Mountain Standard Double Black IPA and Wild Acres duck breast with sage-sweet corn bread pudding, baby carrots and fennel, and warm pickled cherries. Contact Republic to reserve your spot at the dinner. Find more menu information here.

senyaibeerdin.jpg5) Northgate Brewing & Sen Yai Sen Lek Beer Dinner
When: Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Sen Yai Sen Lek
What: Join the founders and brewers of NE Mpls's own Northgate Brewing at Sen Yai Sen Lek for an evening of Thai food and beer pairings. You'll get five beers over five courses with pairings including Northgate's Walls End English brown ale served with stewed five-spice pork belly and a dessert course of milk stout paired with fried sweet potatoes and Izzy's coconut ice cream. Seating is limited. To make reservations and see more of what's on the menu, click here.

gtapstpaul.pngAlso of Note: The Groveland Tap is throwing a release party for Summit's Rebellion Stout with food pairings and a chance to meet the brewer (Monday, starting at noon). Barbette is doing a three-course prix fixe dinner paired with J. Drouhin Beaujolais all weekend long (Thursday-Sunday). Over at Summit's Taproom Friday, there will be trivia, a food truck, and some experimental brews going on. The Happy Gnome is hosting a beer release/anniversary party for Big Wood Brewery's new fall brew, Forest Fire smoked imperial rye. Fulton and Hot Indian Foods are having a Bollywood Beer Bash on Friday which sounds kind of amazing. I guess doing yoga at breweries is a thing now because the one at 612Brew is sold out (more to come) but you can check out a different one at Fulton instead (Saturday, 10:30 a.m.).
