It was looking dicey for a few days there, but the Birchwood Cafe has handily met its Kickstarter goal of $100,000. It currently has 908 backers pledging a total of $106,510, with 58 hours left to go. The Birchwood's Kickstarter brought out the food media in a way no other restaurant Kickstarters had before; while Travail's got plenty of media attention, the Birchwood's got a full-court press from many prominent food folks supporting the restaurant.
As of now, one of the only incentives with no backers (50 left out of 50) is the $125 ticket to a five-course dinner at the Birchwood featuring one of a number of Twin Cities chefs. On the other hand, the $150 "Birchwood Thanksgiving on Wheels" is almost sold out (8 left of 38); it includes chef Marshall Paulsen himself, delivering a sustainably-raised turkey to your door, along with lots of other Thanksgiving standbys.
