Winter has just started closing in, but Doug Flicker of Piccolo has already begun to move on renovation plans for Sandcastle, the seasonal Lake Nokomis concession stand that he and his wife, Amy Greeley, launched this past summer (along with co-owner Chele Payer, a former Piccolo employee). Preliminary drafts of the plans show Sandcastle growing its seating area by adding eight covered four-tops. The project is currently in the planning phase of community engagement, and there a public hearing on the plan is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4.

With a (weather-permitting) re-opening date set for April 15 (according to the Sandcastle website), renovations are still in the infant stages.
