Midtown Global Market stand Sonora Grill—known for its shrimp caramelos and its Sonora dog—opens its own stand-alone restaurant in Longfellow tonight. The space is a renovation of the former Molly Quinn's on Lake Street, now with an open dining room and a front patio.
The menu includes many Midtown Global Market favorites, like the caramelos (a version of tacos) and bocadillos (sandwiches), but also adds a new section of platos (entree plates) like pork loin with romesco, Argentinean beef empanadas, and grilled prawns with avocado, mint, and pancetta.
Mpls.St.Paul Magazine's Stephanie March had an advance tasting a few days ago, and today she posted a photo of the menu surrounded by some of the Sonora bites.
Sonora Grill is only open for dinner to start, but will probably add lunch service in 2014. They take reservations and walk-ins.
