612Brew Taproom
945 Broadway St. NE
Phone: (612) 217-0437
Status: Opens at 4 p.m. today
With today's opening of 612Brew, Northeast Minneapolis continues its bid for total taproom domination. Among its offerings, the brewery plans to include several lower-alcohol "session" beers (read: drink more, feel better). Opening night will feature four beers on tap: the Rated R (a rye IPA), SIX (a pale ale), the Bitter Cold Winter IPA Series #1, and the Zero Hour (a black ale). Simply Steve's food truck will be serving food at the taproom today and tomorrow, and Melch's Meat Wagon will be there on Friday and Saturday. Eventually, 612Brew is planning to serve its own food, reports City Pages, from co-founder Adit Kalra's family's restaurant, Tandoor.
The 612Brew brewery and taproom is housed in a historic Northeast building, still partly under renovation. The taproom features exposed brick, concrete floors, a mural by local artist Adam Turman, and, natch, a bar made from reclaimed bowling alley lanes. The inside space fits 65 people, but once the renovation is complete, the taproom will also include space for an outdoor amphitheater and rain garden.
The taproom will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
