After months of anticipation, the Smack Shack brick n' mortar restaurant (yes, the same one as the beloved lobster roll truck) will officially open tonight at 6 p.m. The little truck that could is all grown up, seating an almost-8,000 square foot space that seats 200 inside, with an additional 60 seats outside. The menu is all grown up, too, with a raw bar, every kind of po' boy under the sun, and, of course, live lobsters for a made-to-order lobster boil.
Earlier this week, we had a slideshow of the Smack Shack's knockout interior, complete with high ceilings, brick walls, red gingham tablecloths, and lots of surprisingly tasteful lobster art. The restaurant, located in a warehouse building in the North Loop, keeps many of the warehouse details intact; in the summer, the patio space will actually be the building's loading dock.
Stay tuned: info on the menu, the drinks, and more will drop here every hour until the doors open.
Critical details on hours and reservations: Smack Shack will initially be open for dinner only, seven days a week, and will eventually be adding lunch service. They'll be serving dinner Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the late night bar menu available from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday, dinner is served 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., with the late night menu from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays, dinner is served 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., late night until 11 p.m. It will probably be walk-in only for the first few weeks, though there will eventually be a reservation system.
