When news broke that Loring Park restaurant and bar Joe's Garage would shutter on March 23rd, fans might have mourned, but the grieving period was extremely temporary. As Stephanie March at Mpls.St.Paul.Magazine reported, the shutter isn't the end of the road for owner Joe Kaplan. While he's closing his eponymous restaurant, Kaplan is teaming up with Butcher & the Boar's Jack Riebel and Riebel's team to reconcept the space.
In an interview last week, Riebel gave a teasing description of the then still-secret project, which will be a casual neighborhood spot:
Right now, I'm looking at consulting on a rebuild – a bar and kitchen concept. So it will be a really cool bar with great food, more of a small plate. More of a bar with food in it, not a full-service restaurant. It's going to be in Loring Park. It's an exisiting restaurant that we're going to rebuild and reconcept and I'm going to consult on that.
