In their email newsletter yesterday, beloved local brewery Surly Brewing Co. released the label artwork for their upcoming seventh-anniversary beer, SevIIn. The beer, created by Surly head brewer Todd Haug, is a Belgian-style ale using Belgian yeast, rye, oats, and wheat. The anniversary beer will be released in mid-June, but in the meantime, feast your eyes on the artwork, a collaboration between local artist Brent Schoonover and Haug. In the newsletter, the brewery promised that this is the real artwork, unlike the fake unicorn label they released a few months ago as a prank.
In other Surly news, their latest release, Bitter Brewer (an English-style bitter), hit stores and bars yesterday.
