Looking for something beer-y to do this weekend? Here are five choice beer happenings going on around the Twin Cities:
1) Summit Brewing Rock the Vine 4
When: Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Saint Croix Vineyards
What: Summit Brewing is a sponsor of Rock the Vine wine and music festival. Check out regional microbrewery beer, wine tastings, live music, and food trucks. See music line-up and ticket information here.
2) Harriet Brewing Strings of the Northland
When: Saturday, 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Where: Harriet Brewing
What: To round out Harriet's Pils Release Week, eight bands will play throughout the day. Simply Steve's food truck will also be there. See the full line-up here. Tickets: $5
3) Newcastle Beer Tent at Northern Spark
When: Saturday, 8:58 p.m. to midnight
Where: Union Depot
What: While viewing over 100 artist projects, stop in the Newcastle beer tent for a taste of their new summer brew called Blond Bombshell. Your first beer is free with valid ID and more is available for purchase. Food trucks, such as such as AZ Canteen, Potter's Pasties, and Sassy Spoon, will also be on site. 4) Flat Earth Tap Takeover
When: Saturday, 5 to 11 p.m.
Where: Gabe's by the Park
What: Before, during, and after the Saints game, Flat Earth Brewing Company is showcasing their brews at Gabe's with $4 pints and $7 flights. There will even be a firkin of Grand Design s'mores-infused porter.
5) Bicyclists' Biergarten at Deutsche Tage
When: Saturday, noon to 4 p.m.
Where: Germanic-American Institute
What: Enjoy German beer and brats for Deutsche Tage (German Days) at the Summit Ave mansion. Ride your bike to this festival and receive half-priced draft beer, $3 a stein, including Paulaner varieties. See the full Deutsche Tage event schedule here.
Also of Note: Pour Decisions will have food from Butcher & the Boar at their taproom (Friday, 4:30 p.m.). Dangerous Man is co-sponsoring Minneapolis Beard & Mustache Club's Border Battle at Grumpy's (Saturday, 7 p.m.). Excelsior welcomes country music artists Jeff Dayton and Gary Lopac to their taproom (Saturday, 3 p.m.). The Herkimer brewpub is hosting a summer kickoff patio party with live music (Saturday, noon to 10 p.m.).
