The team behind Midtown Global Market stand The Left-Handed Cook will be opening a new restaurant called The Rabbit Hole, reports City Pages. The restaurant will also be located in Midtown Global Market, but will have its own enclosed space—a space that was earmarked for a proposed restaurant, Well Seasoned, before those plans went awry.
Chef Thomas Kim and his partner Kat Melgaard told City Pages that they had originally planned to open a restaurant like The Rabbit Hole first and a stand like The Left-Handed Cook second, but that those plans didn't work out. The menu will feature dishes like Korean-style double-fried chicken, duck fat mochi rice cakes, and short rib stew, as well as a selection of burgers. There will also be an emphasis on craft cocktails, and also a Japanese charcoal grill.
The space will feature an open kitchen and a large communal table as well as more intimate booths. Melgaard—who will be running the front of house—will also be doing some of the design.
The pair is hoping to open The Rabbit Hole in early October.
