Russell and Desta Klein of Meritage have announced plans for a new restaurant, according to Vita.MN. The new spot, named Brasserie Zentral, will be located on the ground floor of the historic Soo Line Building at 501 Marquette in Downtown Minneapolis.
Brasserie Zentral's menu will focus on what Klein calls "Continental cuisine with a real focus on central Europe." Expected items include schnitzel, Belgian frites double-fried in beef fat, and whole roasted chicken for two stuffed with brioche and foie gras. There will be an extensive schnapps selection and the wine program will be in the hands of Meritage sommelier Nicolas Giraud. Construction isn't set to start for several months on the 150-seat space, but the Kleins hope to open next spring.
