Butcher & the Boar Beer Bash, MN Cheese Fest, and More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the Twin Cities:

beer_bash_logo.jpg1) Butcher & the Boar Beer Bash
When: Sunday, 4 to 10 p.m.
Where: Butcher & the Boar
What: The restaurant is partnering with Brash Beers and Clown Shoes Beer to deliver almost 20 brews to the beer garden taps. What better way to enjoy the fall weather than with a Brash Cold Ass Honky Dry Hopped Saison and a B&TB sausage? There will also be live music from All Tomorrow's Petty. mncheesefest.jpg2) Minnesota Cheese Festival
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Minnesota State Fairgrounds
What: The Minnesota Cheese Festival is one of the country's largest celebrations of regionally produced cheese and cheese-related products. The two-day cheese fest brings demonstrations, opportunities to meet the cheese makers, and a ton of samplings (including wine and beer) to the State Fairgrounds. Notable vendors include Ellsworth Creamery, Salty Tart Bakery, and food truck Moral Omnivore. Tickets and other information can be found here.


herkimer.jpg3) The Herkimer Presents Oktoberfest
When: Saturday, 5 p.m.
Where: The Herkimer Pub and Brewery
What: Every September, the Herkimer throws a party to celebrate the release of their very own Oktoberfest Lager and to commemorate the great festivities in Munich. The Uptown brewpub will have a fish fry, brats, pretzels, live polka bands, commemorative, refillable mugs, and more at the free event. Find more information on the Herkimer's website, here.

When: Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: University Avenue (from Hamline Ave to Marion St)
What: Open Streets heads to St. Paul for the first time ever to celebrate University Avenue. Explore and enjoy everything the avenue has to offer, free of motorized traffic. Food from Ngon Vietnamese Bistro's food truck, Frogtown Daily Diner, and donuts and coffee from SugaRush are just a sampling of what you'll find. There will also be musical performances, yoga, classes on bike safety, and much more. For more details, click here.

When: Sunday, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Where: Al and Alma's Charter Cruises
What: Excelsior Brewing Company is teaming up with Al and Alma's for a Kruisetoberfest brews cruise on Lake Minnetonka. A ticket will get you get you aboard the Bella Vista for an evening of beer sampling from Excelsior Brewing Company, a BBQ dinner buffet, live music, and dessert. fulton2.jpgAlso of Note: Fulton's final Food Truck Fest of the Twins season is happening at the brewery (Saturday, noon). A Prairie Home Companion is throwing their annual street dance and meatloaf supper at the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul (Saturday, 6 p.m.). Pour Decisions Brewing Company invites you to run .5K (yep, half of a kilometer) to Grumpy's (Saturday, noon). Summit Brewing is taking over the taps at Brit's Pub and offering ten of their beers plus a firkin of Another IPA (Saturday, noon). Mill City Museum is celebrating its 10th birthday with a weekend full of events including free cake (Saturday and Sunday). Shamrock's wants you to join them for a half way to St. Patrick's Day celebration with 2 for 1 on their entire menu (Tuesday, 4 p.m.).
