After months of waiting for Eat Street Social to open its planned tiki room—subtitled The Torpedo Room—tiki enthusiasts and craft cocktail lovers can finally get a sip of artisanal tiki greatness. The tiki-themed bar-within-a-bar opened last night, according to Heavy Table, complete with Hawaiian shirts and fiery drinks.
The Torpedo Room is located in the side room at Eat Street Social that was previously used for private parties and overflow. The original plans had the tiki-themed bar opening at the beginning of summer, and occupying the Eat Street patio for a limited time. Now that the bar is indoors, Eat Street is now thinking of keeping it open through the winter. It will serve "Minnesota Exotic" tiki drinks, using ingredients like sweet corn cream in lieu of the traditional coconut cream, and apple cider in place of pineapple and orange juice.
