Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining and drinking events going on around the Twin Cities:
1) Hot Chicks Night Part 2
When: Monday, 4 p.m.
Where: The Rabbit Hole
What: The Korean gastropub is bringing back its Hot Chicks night for a second time. Usually closed on Mondays, Rabbit Hole is offering a special menu featuring all-you-can-eat chicken (wings, thighs, and strips) and a handful of sides including mac & cheese and collard greens. 2) North Star Bartenders Guild Winter Gala
When: Saturday, 9 p.m.
Where: Public Functionary
What: Bartenders from some of the most notable bars in the metro area will be creating, serving, and sharing recipes for 8 craft cocktails at this winter gala. There will also be games, music, and other forms of entertainment and this booze sipping event. Tickets and other information can be found here.
3) Northbound Smokehouse Hot Box Release
When: Tuesday
Where: Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub
What: Indeed Brewing's 2014 Hot Box Imperial Smoked Pepper Porter is being released at Northbound Smokehouse & Brewpub. The beer is a collaboration from Indeed and Northbound. The tapping event includes a vertical tasting of the 2014 and 2013 versions of Hot Box, as well as a mini "tap takeover" of Indeed Brewing beers. Details can be found here.
4) Chowgirls Locavore Serenade
When: Sunday, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: Chowgirls Catering
What: Locavore Serenade continues with another installment this Sunday at the Chowgirls Parlor in NE Minneapolis. Guests will dine on a three-course, cozy comfort themed menu and then listen to live music from Chris Koza (of whom the dinner is inspired). Menu and ticket information can be found here.
5) Nightingale Beer Dinner with Rush River Brewing
When: Monday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Nightingale
What: Nightingale is hosting Rush River Brewery with a 6-course tasting menu and beer parings. The evening starts with a beer-inspired cocktail with a brewery rep on hand to talk beer. The menu is inspired by brewing and features ingredients like sprouted barley and hop honey. Reservation info and the menu can be found here.
Also of Note: Chef Erik Anderson will be throwing a couple of pop-up dinners at HauteDish on the 4th and 18th of February and if you want in, make your reservations now. Sanctuary Restaurant is having a 6-course tiki tasting menu with optional cocktail pairing (Thursday). Actually, there are a bunch of beer and wine dinners happening over the weekend. Steel Toe Brewing and Pig & Fiddle team up on Thursday. As of this morning, there are a few spots for Dinner on the Farm's Brewmasters' Dinner (Thursday). Summit Brewing and Colossal Cafe are doing 4-courses with the brewery founder Mark Stutrud (Sunday). Highland Grill is having a 5-course wine pairing dinner (Tuesday). And finally, Excelsior Brewing and Tavern 4&5 team up for a beer dinner on Tuesday. The Saint Paul Winter Carnival kicks off today with lots of activities including the sold out Winter Dabbler. If you missed your chance, there are a couple pre-dabbler events where you can sample a variety of beers. The first is at New Bohemia and the second is at both Grumpy's NE and Grumpy's downtown for wood chip flavored brews (Friday, noon and 4 p.m respectively).
