Beginning next Monday, James Beard Award nominee Michelle Gayer of The Salty Tart is hosting Power, Corruption & Pies, a weekly pop up inside Hola Arepa. Mondays, while the restaurant is closed. Gayer and crew will show up with 50 or so of the crusty, sweet desserts and open for business at 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. There's no reserving these luscious goodies, so plan your days accordingly.
Follow them on Facebook or Instagram for more specifics on flavors and tantalizing images. Gayer told Stephanie March of Mpls/St. Paul Magazine that the flavors will likely include, "a malted banana cream pie, some kind of salted caramel apple, perhaps a chocolately meringue situation, you know definitely creamy and luscious, and like a pear cranberry streusel." Prices will vary, but likely start in the $20 neighborhood.
In true pop-up fashion, don't expect the pies to be permanent. Plans are for these crusty sweets to carry us through the next two months and then they're gone.
