Lorin Zinter Exits Heyday to Head Hospitality at Il Foro

A shift at the Lyn/Lake hotspot.

It's been a wild first year for Heyday. The eatery, run by the dashing duo of La Belle Vie alumni, has captivated eaters and romanced critics. After receiving recognition as one of the best new restaurants and an Eater Award for Restaurant of the Year, there comes news of a major change.

Lorin Zinter, one of the founding partners and the man who ran the front of house (while chef Jim Christiansen handles the kitchen) will step away from the operation at the end of this year.

Zinter confirmed that the decision was made mutually and amicably by the partners that includes Christiansen and Mike Prickett. Other than missing Zinter's singular charm, guests shouldn't expect a dramatic shift in service. Dani Megears will take over the position. Megears has been with the team from the beginning as their wine buyer. She had previously worked with Zinter at La Belle Vie and Christiansen at Solera.

In January 2015, Zinter will throw himself headlong into his newest partnership with Josh Thoma, Kevin Fitzgerald and Jack Riebel at the newly christened Il Foro. The Italian eatery will revitalize the former Forum restaurant in downtown Minneapolis.
