Urban Bean has been undergoing an evolution this year. There was the conversion of one location under the new ownership of Liz Abene into Canteen which brought the national toast trend to the locals.
Then Urban Bean's owner Greg Martin made the change of beans from the local Dogwood coffee to Intelligentsia and Four Barrel for the espresso drinks.
Now, according to Mpls. St. Paul Magazine's Stephanie March another Urban Bean is getting ready to open. According to her sources Martin will take over Jackson's Coffee & Gelato on Lake Street and Bryant Avenue. The new coffee shop could open as early as this spring.
Meanwhile, at the original location, the bean selection will continue to expand so that customers can order specific beans, sourced from all over for specific cups. Plus, Urban Bean's general manager Amy Johnson is working with mixologists to hone a coffee tonic, continuing the shop's stellar reputation for great coffee and as a spot for sophisticated drinks for those who don't imbibe.
