Sandcastle Launches Ice Cream Kickstarter

Looking ahead toward summer, Lake Nokomis concession Sandcastle is launching a Kickstarter to add as soft serve ice cream machine. The concession is owned and operated by Piccolo's Doug Flicker, his wife Amy Greeley, and former Piccolo employee Chele Payer. If the Kickstarter succeeds, they'll be offering the classic chocolate and vanilla (and the swirl), as well as more creative soft serve options (think: vanilla with olive oil and sea salt).

In its first day, the Kickstarter currently has 47 backers, with $1,495 pledged out of a goal of $17,000. Pledges can go anywhere from $10 to $5,000, with rewards ranging from ice cream cones (duh) to a party catered by Sandcastle and thank-you notes delivered by Flicker. Watch Greeley and Flicker explain the Kickstarter and make jokes about Flicker's eponymous Dog Flicker hot dog in the 3:01 video above.
