Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining and drinking events going on around the Twin Cities:
1) North Coast Nosh X
When: Sunday, 4 to 7 p.m.
Where: American Swedish Institute
What: North Coast Nosh is back at the American Swedish Institute for its tenth installment. More than 30 purveyors will be in attendance (including Far North Spirits, Izzy's Ice Cream, Barbette, and more) for the sipping, sampling, and social event. 2) Birchwood Cafe Closing Time Celebration
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Birchwood Cafe
What: The end is here for the Seward neighborhood cafe before they close for the Kickstarter-funded remodel and expansion. Stop in for free Peace Coffee, pizza and wine specials, and a Saturday night edition of Burgers and Beer. Details of the event can be found here. Just so you know, Birchwood will still offer its goodies in the form of a pop-up at Verdant Tea starting March 1st.
3) Hammerheart Brewing Beer Dinner
When: Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Smalley's Caribbean Barbeque
What: Smalley's and Hammerheart are teaming up for a beer dinner at the Stillwater restaurant. Five courses from Chef Aaron Cave (plus a starter cheese course by Wedge & Wheel) are to be paired with six beers from Hammerheart Brewery. Spots are limited. 4) The Sexy Side of Beer Educational Tasting
When: Thursday, 8 to 9 p.m. UPDATE: Due to weather, this has been rescheduled to Thursday, February 27
Where: The Four Firkins
What: Beer can be sexy. Learn exactly how that is and sample beer at this educational event held at The Four Firkins. Discuss flavor, packaging, marketing, and more with the Firkins dudes and special guest, local beer artist, Adam Turman. Sample sexy beer including Lucette Hips Don't Lie and Clown Shoes Tramp Stamp. 5) Ice Bar Extravaganza
When: Saturday, 7 to 11 p.m.
Where: The Happy Gnome
What: The St. Paul gastropub is building an ice bar on the patio in honor of Red Bull Crashed Ice taking place just a half mile away at The Cathedral of St. Paul. The patio offers bonfires, dancers, music, and drink specials from Surly, 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, and more. To find more details about the event, click here.
Also of Note: Mackenzie Pub kicks off the weekend with poked Schell's Bock and brats at their own Bockfest (Friday, 3 to 7 p.m.). Surly is taking over the taps at Señor Wong for their 6th anniversary with a featured keg of Surly Sÿx (Friday, 5 p.m.). Indeed is releasing Let It Ride IPA on draft at Blue Door Longfellow (Tuesday, 5 p.m.). The Raise a Glass, a Toast to Pacer beer and wine tasting event takes place on Friday, 6 p.m. and tickets are still available. Another way to raise money for a good cause while drinking beer can be done at Summit's taproom where 50% of pint sales go to Special Olympics MN (Saturday, 4 p.m.). Restaurant Week kicks off on Sunday and here are our picks. And finally, you've heard of CSA but what about a CSI?
