Status: Opens at 4 p.m. today
After a week of soft opening, sustainable sushi restaurant Kyatchi officially opens to the public today at 4 p.m. The restaurant team includes chef Hide Tozawa of Fuji Ya, co-owner Samuel Peterson (who managed First Avenue from 1996 to 2008), co-owner Sarah Peterson, and, as a consultant, well-known Twin Cities restaurateur Kim Bartmann (who owns Barbette, Pat's Tap, Bryant Lake Bowl, and the Red Stag Supperclub, among other spots).
The 44-seat restaurant has a focus on sustainable ingredients, especially for its sushi, and its Facebook page promises dishes served in "traditional Japanese and new American ways." Some non-sushi dishes also include rice bowls, ramen, and Japanese hot dogs, as well as a sake menu.
Kyatchi is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from noon to midnight. It is also running happy hour from 4 - 6 p.m. every day and 10 p.m. - close on Sunday through Thursday. No reservations except for parties of six at the Chef's Table.
