After launching on February 24th, the Kickstarter for upcoming St. Anthony Main restaurant/bar/performance space Mattie St. Clair's House of Spirits on Main Street (that's Mattie's on Main for short) is almost 25% funded, with $8,540 pledged out of a $35,000 goal. Mattie's comes from Dean Schlaak and Tom DeGree, owners of the Wilde Roast Cafe, which is located next door to Mattie's soon-to-open location in the space that formerly belonged to Kikugawa. The 5,860 square foot space will feature a full bar, 16 beers on tap, and "upscale pub food."
Mattie's will open whether the Kickstarter is funded or not, with a hoped-for opening in early May. With the Kickstarter funds, Schlaak and DeGree are hoping to "upgrade the customer experience at Mattie's"; that upgrade includes a year-round patio and a better sound system. So far, the Kickstarter has 45 backers, with 30 days left to go. Pledge levels range from $10 to $3,000, with rewards including crafting your own "Adult Milkshake of the Month," a four-course dinner in the riverfront atrium to view July 4th fireworks, and a private party for 16 people in the atrium to view the Aquatennial fireworks.
