Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining and drinking events going on around the Twin Cities:
1) Firkin Fest 2014
When: Saturday, noon to 6 p.m.
Where: The Happy Gnome
What: The annual tent festival is back at The Happy Gnome in St. Paul. More than 50 local and regional breweries will be in attendance pouring cask versions of their standard brews. For brewery line up and ticket information, click here.
2) Dumpling's Ramen Pop-Up
When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Matchbox Coffee Shop
What: Local catering team, Dumpling, will be serving up hot bowls of shoyu-style ramen (made from Kadejan chickens, noodles from Canton Foods, and steeped with katsuobushi) at Matchbox coffee shop. Bowls of ramen will sell for $10 each (cash only). Find more information here.
3) Sound Unseen + Dinner on the Farm present the Tropix Cinefeast
When: Sunday, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Secret Location
What: The only way to find out the location of this Cinefeast is to purchase tickets. Dress tropical and head to the mysterious event where there will be food from Chef Jon Wipfli, craft cocktails by Marco Zappia (of Eat Street Social/Torpedo Room), and beer from Fulton including the seasonal Expat. Twenty additional tickets were just released so act fast. More details can be found here.
4) Sapor Beer Dinner
When: Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
What: Sapor is hosting a beer dinner with Surly and Indeed. Reps from each brewery will be on hand to introduce beers and courses (including monkfish roll on toasted brioche with Surly Misanthrope) throughout the dinner. Reservations strongly encouraged. 5) Haute Dish Beer Dinner
Where: Haute Dish
What: Haute Dish is doing a beer pairing dinner with Dark Horse Brewery (out of Michigan). Details are yet to be finalized on the menu but the four beers have been selected. Find more information here and call to make reservations.
Also of Note: Summit Brewing is donating 50% of beer sales in their taproom to children's cancer research (Saturday, 4 to 9 p.m.). Been meaning to get to Travail? Starting today, if you sit before 6 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, the tasting menu is $85 (normally $110).
