Longtime wine director (and part-owner) Bill Summerville is leaving La Belle Vie sometime in mid-May, reports Rick Nelson of the Star Tribune. Summerville has been with the the fine dining spot since 2005.
Both Summerville and La Belle Vie's owner and executive chef Tim McKee describe the split as amicable. Though not much is being said as of what Summerville's plans are, he did say that he'll remain in Minneapolis and in the industry. The two plan to collaborate on projects in the future. We do know that one of Summerville's potential future plans is the much buzzed about chicken and champagne pop-up restaurant with chef Erik Anderson which Summerville mentioned via Twitter that the "location and date [are] to be announced soon".
