Welcome to our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographer Katie Cannon visits some of the city's great restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, the newly renovated and reopened Birchwood Cafe.

After a three-month, partially-Kickstarter-funded remodeling hiatus, Seward's Birchwood Cafe is back, serving its famed savory waffles and other local, organic fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. In addition to a kitchen expansion and overhaul, the newly renovated dining space features communal tables, a larger seating area, and an open kitchen, while still retaining the welcoming feel the Birchwood is known for.
Photographer Katie Cannon dropped by last Wednesday to capture the mid-week lunch crowd. Take a look.
