Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining and drinking events going on around the Twin Cities:
1) Brit's Pre-World Cup Party
When: Saturday, 3:30 p.m.
Where: Brit's Pub
What: World Cup games officiialy start next Thursday but Brit's is ready for the action this weekend. They are throwing a pre-World Cup party in the clubhouse and veranda. 2) Gather Brewer-In-Residence
When: Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m.
Where: Gather by D'Amico
What: Expanding on its chef-in-residence events, Gather by D'Amico at the Walker Art Center is featuring local breweries on the first Thursday of each month throughout the summer. This time around, sample beers from Flat Earth Brewing Company's head brewer, Bob Roepke, including Cygnus X-1 Porter. Chef's suggested pairing is local handmade sausage and other food is available for purchase. Find more information here.
3) St. Paul Summer Beer Fest
When: Saturday, 2 to 6 p.m.
Where: Minnesota State Fairgrounds
What: The 6th annual St. Paul Summer Beer Fest is back this Saturday at the International Bazaar at the state fairgrounds. The outdoor craft beer festival features samplings from over 100 breweries and offers live music, food, educational seminars, and a silent auction. For tickets and more information, click here.
4) Open Streets LynLake
When: Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Lyndale Ave (22nd Street to 42nd Street)
What: The second installment of Open Streets is taking place on Lyndale Ave. Not only can you eat your way up and down Lyndale car-free, but there's also a party at Urban Bean, and a lot of live music happening. General information can be found here.
5) Tastemakers: Gin Boom
When: Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: The Ritz Theater
What: Gin! Tastemakers is back and Stephanie March and Dara Moskowitz Grumdahl are hosting an expert panel to discuss the the booming micro-distillery scene in Minnesota. Sip on gin drinks while hearing panelists from Vikre, Far North, and Norseman discuss the business, and then schmooze with DMG and Stephanie March. Details and ticket information can be found here.
Also of Note: Tin Whiskers is throwing a grand opening celebration with music and Mayor Coleman (Thursday, 4 p.m.). There's a 5-course Japanese pop-up dinner happening on Sunday with a few spots left if you hurry. The Edina Art Fair is in its 48th year and has a lot to offer (Friday through Sunday).
