Basilica Block Party, All Star Weekend, & More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining and drinking events going on around the Twin Cities:

When: Friday & Saturday, 6 to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Basilica of Saint Mary
What: The block party is back and celebrating its 20th anniversary this weekend. The two day festival brings a ton of music acts and more importantly, food and drinks. Find World Street Kitchen's food truck with special block party fare (including Mexican corn and Korean burritos) among other treats and food vendors around the festival. When: July 11-15
Where: Target Field and various nearby locations
What: The MLB All Star weekend descends upon Minneapolis beginning on Friday. What does that mean for you? Well, it means tap takeovers, Fulton taproom festivities, food trucks, including Smack Shack, Andrew Zimmern playing ball, and specials and extended hours at many bars and restaurants. Keep in mind there will be road closures so plan accordingly, friends. More information about the weekend can be found here.

When: Sunday, 3 to 10 p.m.
Where: Barbette
What: Barbette is once again throwing their Bastille Day block party in Uptown. Tons of local music acts will be performing during the event. When: Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Lake Phalen Park
What: The St. Paul tradition is back for its 12th year of celebrating Asian tradition and heritage. The family friendly event includes a 5k walk/run, traditional dances, cultural & Martial Arts performers, dragon boat races, authentic foods from Asian restaurants throughout the Twin Cities, and so much more. When: Wednesday, 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Excelsior Brewing Co.

Lyn-Lake hot spot Heyday begins brunch service on Saturday at 10 a.m. Indeed Brewing and The Uptown Theatre are showing the movie RAD! which sounds pretty rad, indeed (Friday & Saturday). Celebrate Excelsior Brewing's 2nd Beerthday with a party at the taproom (Saturday, noon). Birchwood Cafe continues to show Tour de France on the big screen. The final games of the World Cup take place on Saturday and Sunday and here are our picks for the best places to watch.
