Century-Old Jerabek's New Bohemian Bakery Closes Again

The St. Paul bakery had stood on these grounds for over one hundred years, but Monday, August 18, was Jerabek's New Bohemian's final day of business.

Things were bleak last year when it was first announced that the bakery would be going out of business. There was a reprieve when co-owner John Willis announced that it would re-open after being closed for a several weeks in October and November of 2013. He brought in Jason DeGidio to help manage operations. Fans rejoiced, but it seems that this wasn't enough to make the business successful.

Said one neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, "That place was a treasure and was this close to re-inventing itself as a back-to-roots destination worth clamoring for." The neighbor lamented a longing for more real butter and fresh ingredients to make their way onto the menu.

According to Jerabek's Facebook page, it also appears that some orders went unfulfilled before the closing.

The bakery was known for old-world specialties like kolaches and pea-studded chicken pot pies.
