The Herbivorous Butcher Plans Meat-Free Butcher Shop for South Minneapolis

All you could ever ask for in a neighborhood butcher shop without eating anything that once had a face.

The Herbivorous Butcher is the brainchild of siblings Aubry and Kale Walch. Committed to cruelty-free eating the vegan duo grew weary of the freezer case meat replacements from companies like Boca and their ilk. They set about creating meat-like meats that are entirely meat-free.

Fans have discovered these products at the Minneapolis Farmer's Market; items like Italian sausage, maple breakfast sausage links, teriyaki jerky, lunch meats and more. All are vegan, some gluten free. For this weekend's Twin Cities Veg Fest The Herbivorous Butcher will serve Kansas City style pulled pork and for Thanksgiving there will be vegan turkeys. (That's right. Suck it tofurky.)

Now, City Pages reports that The  Herbivorous Butcher is eyeballing the former Donut Cooperative space at 2929 E. 25th Street in Seward to set up a permanent neighborhood butcher shop.

A crowdfunding campaign will kick off on November 3rd to bring the dream of an old fashioned neighborhood butcher shop that sells only non-meat products plus spice rubs, sauces, cheese and whatever else this creative vegan wonder-twin team dreams up.
