James Beard Awards 2015 Restaurant & Chef Semifinalists from Minnesota

The highest honor in the food world has bestowed some attention on a few local establishments.

The much-buzzed about Spoon and Stable from Gavin Kaysen is up for Best New Restaurant.

Past Best Chef Midwest winner Tim McKee's La Belle Vie has been nominated for Outstanding Restaurant.

Alex Robert's Restaurant Alma is in the running for Outstanding Service.

Kim Bartmann, who owns Bryant-Lake Bowl, Tiny Diner, The Third Bird and several other area restaurants, was nominated for Outstanding Restaurateur.

John Kraus, fresh off his bronze placement at the Coup du Monde who owns and operates Patisserie 46 is listed as a nominee for Outstanding Baker as was Steve Horton of Rustica.

Owner of Haus Alpenz, Eric Seed who supplies many of the top bars with hard to find and unique spirits was again recognized as an Outstanding Wine, Spirits, or Beer Professional.

Best Chef: Midwest semifinalists include Paul Berglund of the Bachelor Farmer; Mike Brown, Bob Gerken and James Winberg of Travail Kitchen and Amusements; Jim Christiansen of Heyday; Doug Flicker of Piccolo; Michelle Gayer of The Salty Tart; Russell Klein of Meritage and Brasserie Zentral and Lenny Russo of Heartland Restaurant.
