The St. Paul Cheese Shop, just off the intersection of Snelling on Grand Avenue is already hard at work on opening a butcher shop even closer to the Macalester campus. Cheesemonger Benjamin Roberts has confirmed to Stephanie March of Mpls. St. Paul Magazine that the former Grand Hair Salon space (between Frattalone's and Grand Central Coffee Shop) at 1673 West Grand Avenue will be the home of this new venture.
They will be doing whole animal butchering of pastured beef and creating even more of their legendary sandwiches. The roomier space will allow for more seating. (Inside the Cheese Shop there is one adorable table.)
St. Paul Cheese Shop has already earned a reputation for not only their wide selection of cheese, but the go-to spot for high end, harder-to-find cured meats like guanciale and Mike Phillips' Red Table Meat Company's products.
