Lowertown continues to be the hottest neighborhood in St. Paul. Another restaurant will open in the walkabout, historic area. Ox Cart Alehouse is the work of the same owners who run Cathedral Hill's Salt Cellar and downtown's Eagle Street Grille with chef Andy Lilja. Lilja is a St. Paul native who has spent time in the kitchen with Lenny Russo at Heartland and Cue at the Guthrie, plus was the long-time dinner chef at Colossal Cafe's St. Paul location.
The gastropub concept will have 175 seats and a rooftop patio, reports Jess Fleming of the Pioneer Press. The restaurant is taking shape inside the Lowertown Garage building on the corner of 6th and Wall Street.
