Eat out for a good cause

Dining Out for Life is an annual fundraiser that helps support HIV/AIDS programs. Funds raised through the event stay local. In Minnesota, the money helps support The Aliveness Project, a nonprofit organization providing services for Minnesotans living with HIV/AIDS. Over 200 restaurants will participate on Thursday, covering a wide range of options from Rustica Bakery to Piccolo. Click here for a complete listing of participating establishments.

Cosmos are so 2004

Grab some friends and head to downtown Wayzata for an evening of whiskey, food and education. Thursday at 6 p.m., 6Smith will host Women & Whiskey: The untold story of women’s roles before, during & after probation. Enjoy whiskey and appetizer pairings by Chef John Mullen of 6Smith. A panel of guest speakers will delve into the history of women’s role in the making and consumption of this smooth spirit.

It’s food truck season

Midtown Farmers Market will open for the season this Saturday and to celebrate they are hosting a Food Truck Fest with some Twin Cities favorites like The Moral Omnivore, Kabomelle and WildEarth WoodFired. Follow their Facebook page or Twitter feed @MidtownFarmMk for additional food trucks. The Midtown Farmers Market is located at 2225 E. Lake Street in Minneapolis and is open Saturdays from 8am-1pm.

Elotes for Everybody!

St. Paul's singular Cinco de Mayo festivities kick off at 9 a.m. on Cesar Chavez Street with the parade rolling by beginning at 10 a.m. It's a full day of family fun with just so many Mexican street foods to consume. Now is the time to kick off the summer season with elotes at El Burrito Mercado. Grilled corn on the cob smeared with mayo, crumbly cheese and a spritz of lime.

Sunday, May 3rd

Gimme some Gamay

Put on your fancy shoes, because it’s time to sample some world-class wine. La Belle Vie will host Day of Gamay, where guests can sample from over 25 varieties of Gamay wines from around the world. Enjoy swanky passed hors d'oeuvres and additional cocktails Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $55 per person.

May Day

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theater's annual summer kick off party begins with a parade along Bloomington Avenue in South Minneapolis in the noon neighborhood and landing inside Powderhorn Park. All along the lake are stands with political parties, community organizations and street food stands - including some food trucks. Grab a gyro and a patch of grass for an afternoon of music and merriment.
