There was a sad sigh emanating from the North Loop this week when the Star Tribune announced that Sapor would be closing after fifteen years. Co-owners  Julie Steenerson and chef Tanya Siebenaler have decided to get out of the hospitality industry entirely. There is still time to say goodbye. The final day will be June 15.

Although, the restaurant is already spawning a new generation. Bar manager Toph Heubach and chef Noah Miller are putting together a food truck that will specialize in barbecue called Bark and the Bite.

Bogart Doughnut Co. which began as Anne Rucker's stand inside farmers markets that launched a city-wide fried dough obsession with a South Minneapolis bakery is expanding to downtown Minneapolis. The donuts now be available at a stand inside the IDS Crystal Court. The stand will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through  Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Rucker plans on July 15.

A road trip might be in order for smoked meat lovers. Duluth's destination deli in Canal Park's DeWitt Sietz, Northern Waters Smokehaus will open a second location in the Mount Royal Center. This means even more of the ethereal smoked fish and zesty smoked sausages, salumi, sandwiches and more.
