News on Nye's, Lowertown Openings & One Restaurant Closing

The Minneapolis /St. Paul Business Journal is reporting that the developers who have purchased Nye's Polonaise Room will keep the venerable bar open until January of 2016.

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill is not feeling the love from the tax man. The country singer's restaurant at the Shops at West End has closed. Unpaid taxes led to all liquor sales being suspended.

Big River Pizza has moved from farmer's market to a brick and mortar restaurant across the street from the St. Paul Farmers Market. The wood-fires are burning on the ground floor building on the corner of Wall and 5th Street in Lowertown. (Directly across the street from the newly opened Saint Dinette.)

Public Kitchen and Bar in Lowertown has a new chef. Joan Ida has taken over the kitchen. Ida comes to the St. Paul eatery with extensive experience from Goodfellows, Porter & Frye and most recently at the Blue Plate Group.

Ox Cart Alehouse has announced its opening. This is the third restaurant from the team that owns Eagle Street Grille and Salt Cellar. On June 30 at 4 p.m. the pub fare and craft beer will be served.
