After 10 years in operation at the corner of West Seventh and Wabasha Streets in downtown St. Paul, the Pioneer Press reports that Fuji Ya has closed. No specific reason was given, but the Minneapolis location remains open.
Reiko Weston opened Fuji Ya, the first Japanese restaurant in Minneapolis in 1959. The original location still remains vacant near the Mississippi River. Last year, her family who continued to operate Fuji Ya sold the business to Syngergy Property.
