  • In what seems like mere moments after the closing of Thanh Do Woodbury, a new restaurant has announced plans for the spot. Stephanie March of Mpls./St. Paul Magazine reports chef Shawn McDonald, who worked at Thanh Do will open Sovereign Kitchen and Bar in September.
  • Burch is getting into the brunch game. Isaac Becker's beauty of a steakhouse will add the Sunday service starting September 20.
  • Last week the modern bartending world lost a major talent when Sasha Petraske passed away. The man is credited with much of what's happening in our watering holes today from the reverence for the classics down to the dapper style of dress. To celebrate his life Bradstreet Neighborhood Craftshouse is hosting an evening of guest bartenders and cocktails from the Milk and Honey Menu. Jourdan Gomez (Constantine) will be pouring  Gin and It. Sean Jones (Parlour) will serve the Gold Rush. Penicillin will be mixed by Jennifer Boutell (Bradstreet) and Robb Jones (Spoon and Stable) will also be in attendance making something wonderful. At 9 p.m. a daqueri will be raised to toast the life and loss of Petraske. More information on the event can be found here.
  • As the summer comes to a close, a couple of restaurants are taking a bit of much-needed time off. Spoon and Stable is closing for service August 30 - September 10. Sushi Fix out in Wayzata is closed today through Sunday as the enigmatic chef and owner Billy Tserenbat gets hitched. Congratulations!
