Ramen Attacks the Mill City

Zen Box Izakaya hosted their annual celebration of all things brothy and noodle-filled. Hungry hoards of ramen lovers descended to the edge of the Mississippi River for Ramen Attack! Once there they sample cocktails from Bittercube, drank beer (including a special umami packed variety brewed just for the occasion by Surly), sat in on expert demonstrations and filled their bellies with Japanese street food and that king of all soups: ramen.

Area chefs Thomas Boemer of Corner Table and Diane Yang of Spoon and Stable led demonstrations. Jack Riebel of the forthcoming Lexington revival and Il Foro, Jorge Guzman of Sulrly's Brewer's Table and beer hall, plus Zen Box Izakaya's own ramen architect, John Ng represented the local scene while Justin Carlsile of Ardent arrived from Milwaukee and Keizo Shimamoto returned again from Brooklyn.

The event was again graced with gorgeous weather and lots and lots of Sun Noodles dressed in elaborate broths.
