Oktober is Upon Us: What to Do This Weekend

Oktoberfests, Japanese booze, and a death match competition…with more booze. This weekend is going to be a blast!

Thursday, October 1st

Sake Celebration

Celebrate National Sake Day at Moto-i with sake tastings and a limited release Barrel Aged Imperial Red Saison, a collaborative brew from Moto-i and The Herkimer that utilizes koji derived from the sake brewing process.

A rooftop toast with complimentary sake samples of a limited release sake prepared specifically for the occasion will take place at 8:00 p.m. followed by some DJ spun tunes.

Saturday, October 3rd

Mocktober Fest

Urban Growler is throwing a Mocktoberfest bash, complete with Kramarczuk's Brats, Mocktoberfest steins and lots of live music. The party rolls from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Bauhaus Oktoberfest

Bauhaus will host a blow out Oktoberfest with multiple beer tents, brats from Gerhard’s Brats, authentic Bavarian pretzels from Aki’s Breadhaus and live entertainment from the likes of McNasty Brass Band, Viva Knievel and Nightlights. You may even spot a roaming tuba or accordion.

A $30 ticket gets you a commemorative beer stein and three fills. $10 designated driver tix are also available.

Sunday, October 4th

VENDEMMIA: A Toast to the Grape Harvest

Stop by the Broder’s Pasta Bar parking lot for a festival celebrating Italy’s many pleasures, including wine, food like porchetta sandwhiches and fried tortoloni, and Broder’s 1st Annual Somm Stomp.

Twin Cities top wine gurus will compete in a rousing grape stomping competition judged by Jason DeRusha and Stephanie March.

Who Will Reign Supreme?

The top bartenders in Minneapolis and St. Paul will compete for title of Iron Bartender 2015 during the four week competition’s grand finale at Pourhouse in Minneapolis. Pros from Hola Arepa, Marvel Bar, Tattersall Distilling and La Belle Vie will duke it out for grand champ, while the audience enjoys samples and casts their vote for People's Choice.

Art for Food Fans

Solar Arts by Chowgirls and Midwest Pantry will host the free, family-friendly event in support of local food producers and benefiting Free Arts Minnesota. Eighteen limited-edition 2015 food focused posters created by Minnesota artists and designers will be on sale during the event at Solar Arts in Northeast Minneapolis.
